Kara Davidson is a positive force in the office, and we are so lucky to have her as part of our team.
Kara is always ready with a new idea for a campaign, and is our very own Google AdWords queen! She will readily admit she has a “few quirky tendencies sprinkled on an icing of friendliness,” but she is also smart, creative, humble, and the master of cat haikus.
Kara has a soft spot for organizing and cats, but not organizing cats because that would be odd (and impossible).
She was born to be creative and loves brainstorming ideas and strategies with Parachute clients. Her job as a Project Manager includes maintaining communication, managing digital ads, and keeping an eye on future projects for clients like CPEadvisory, The PEDIGREE Foundation, and Doomswell. In addition to strategy for clients, she also gives life and voice to our in-house brands, Camping With Dogs and Camping With Cats.
We asked her what she loves most about her job. Kara says, “That’s a tough one. I guess have two: I love making to do lists. I have my overall weekly to do list, and my daily planner that organizes my day by morning, afternoon, and evening, and then I will write down my top priorities for the day on a post-it note and stick it to my desktop. The other is that I love doing research and then brainstorming to come up with a strategy for whatever objective we’re working on for a client. Whether I’m brainstorming by myself or with a group of people, it’s always so great to have that time to really dig deep and get the creative juices flowing.”
Let’s see Kara’s work:
Camping With Dogs
Kara is responsible for creating the voice behind Camping With Dogs. Amazing puns, cute pictures, and a knowledge of Instagram all come together every day and push the brand forward.
Kara is a great writer! Her clever style combined with a fun brand like Doomswell makes for interesting blog posts that garner a ton of engagement for the client.
Let’s learn more about Kara:
Parachute Media: What is your favorite quote? OR Do you have a personal mission statement?
Kara: “A negative mind will never give you a positive life.” It’s so easy to think negatively, and much more difficult to remind yourself of the positive side of things. So this is something I try to remind myself everyday.
Parachute Media: What is your grand, audacious goal?
Kara: This might sound cliche, but I want to one day be in a position where I am bettering the world in some way. I’m not saying I want to start some grandiose movement or anything (although that would be cool), I just mean that before I eventually die I’d like to feel like I left a sizable mark that positively impacted people.
Also, I really want to open up a French bakery in Cape Cod called Crepe Cod. If anyone steals who reads this steals my idea I will find you and hurt you.
Parachute Media: When you’re not at work, where will we find you and what will you be doing?
Kara: I spend my off hours with my cat, either reading or watching Netflix/Hulu, or grabbing beers with my pals on the weekends. I also LOVE to sketch and paint with watercolors, although I’m not very good. I think it’s important to have a creative outlet like painting and drawing when your job is to be on the Internet all day — it gets my eyes away from the computer screen and onto something that I’m physically creating with my hands.
Parachute Media: What two songs describe your life right now?
Kara: Work by Rihanna. Also, the Weeknd’s newest album certainly doesn’t describe my life but it’s what I find myself listening to all the time. It gets me pumped up at work. Luv u Abel Makkonen Tesfaye.
Parachute Media: If you could Skype with anyone living or dead, who would it be?
Kara: Oooooh. Okay so my favorite author is Michael Crichton, so I’d love to have a little chat with him and pick his brain. But then there’s Justin Timberlake, who I dearly love. I’d like to Skype him and convince him to fall in love with me.
